Spring 1 Home Learning Overview

During Spring 1, Year 3 will be learning about the four operations of addition, subtraction, mutliplication and division in Maths. Regular practice of times tables and mental maths through our online learning apps, TTRockstars and Mathletics, will help your children to make strong progress in these areas.

This half term, Year 3 will be completing our own versions of Little Red Riding Hood. We will also be looking at a variety of fiction and non-fiction text types, such as Biographies and Information Texts. Our grammar will focus on word classes, suffixes and grammatical techniques that can be applied to their writing.

We will be learning all about Ancient Egyptians this half term, where we will study some of the Phaerohs, Egyptian architecture, beliefs and what it was like to live during this time.

Our Science topic this half term will focus on light and how it can be changed. We will be looking at how different materials reflect light and how to manipulate it to produce different shadows.

This half-term, we will be learning about Jesus as a teacher. The children will study how Jesus travelled and spread his word. We will also discover more about Jesus as he grew up. The children will also discover what the meaning of the Holy Trinity is and how it is made of three persons in one God.
