Year 2

Welcome to Year Two at St. Clare's Catholic Primary

At St. Clare's Catholic Primary, we understand the importance of more formal learning as your child progresses into Year Two but still with the opportunity for provision based guided activities with a focus on creativity in all areas of the curriculum. We are focused on providing an educational environment that promotes both academic development and personal growth.

Learning in Year Two is designed to be engaging and fun. We incorporate a variety of fun topics into our curriculum to stimulate your child's curiosity and encourage active participation. These topics are carefully selected to align with the National Curriculum and are presented in a way that makes learning enjoyable and interesting for our young students.

One of the key areas we focus on in Year Two is the mastery of the four main operations – add, subtract, multiply and divide. We understand that this is a fundamental skill that forms the foundation for many aspects of mathematics. Our teachers employ a range of teaching methods to ensure your child grasps this concept in a fun and interactive way.

We have planned trip for this year is to Filey. This coastal town in North Yorkshire offers a wealth of learning opportunities for our students. our trip to Filey promises to be an unforgettable experience for our Year Two students.

Our curriculum will also cover important historical events such as the Great Fire of London. This topic will not only introduce students to a significant event in British history, but also help them understand how it has shaped modern London. Through engaging stories, interactive lessons and creative projects, we aim to bring this historical event to life for our students.

We’ll also be exploring the diverse cultures of the world. One of our highlights will be learning about an African village named Mugarameno. This unit of study will give our students an insight into the vibrant culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the people living in this part of Africa. It is an excellent opportunity for our pupils to appreciate and respect cultural diversity. Our goal is to foster a love of learning in our students and to help them develop a global perspective

We look forward to welcoming your child into Year Two at St. Clare's Catholic Primary. Our team is dedicated to ensuring your child's learning journey is filled with exciting experiences and new discoveries. Join us and let's make this academic year a memorable one for your child.

  Our Class Virtue is Kindness
You accept someone as they are, you care for them, and care what happens to them and you want to share your life with them. You always think about another person rather than thinking about yourself. When you love you put into practice the “golden rule”, to treat others with the respect and kindness that you want for yourself. You love people you do not know by simple acts of kindness and by wanting the best for them
